Course Information
CPCS Appointed Person (A61) Course Content
- Observe regulations and Codes of Practice
- Follow safe systems of work including method statements
- Take personal responsibility
- Describe different types of cranes and associated terminology
- Understand crane documentation
- Understand crane stability, duty charts and safety devices
- Appreciate tower cranes
- Observe British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes Guidelines sections 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Recognise the role of appointed persons
- Plan a lift
Assessment
Mixture of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises followed by one day assessment - CPCS technical tests.
Certification
Learners will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests, valid for two years.
CPCS Blue Card - After gaining on-site experience, you must complete an NVQ level 5 within two years to apply for the blue CPCS Competence Card which is renewable every five years.
Entry Requirements
Learners must have passed the Manager Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years, prior to course start date.
Good understanding of spoken and written English
