Our basic safety harness training course is suitable for any persons who may be exposed to falls from height, whether in construction, maintenance or retail, and require further knowledge and understanding to prevent accidents, injuries or near misses when using a Harness and any associated equipment. The course highlights various hazards, basic awareness information and covers both theoretical and practical awareness training on the safe use of a harness.
Falls from height remains the highest cause of workplace fatalities within the UK.

Basic Harness Training Course Overview
- Work at height recognition, definitions & Regulations
- Hazard identification, collective & personal protection
- Safe work at height procedures (including fall factors)
- Harness & restraint system awareness & fitting
- Inspection & record keeping – Harness, fall arrest lanyard, helmet, sling & connector
- Fall arrest, work restraint & work positioning awareness
- Use of fall arrest, work restraint (inertia reels, fall arrest lanyards)

Learner Numbers
In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is ten.
Assessment
A full observation by a competent trainer and a multiple-choice question paper.
Certification
Successful learners will be awarded a Van-Elle Construction Training Basic Harness Course certificate valid for 3 years.
